Antispray Tape – DNV and CCS Certification Renewals

Both MF03 and MF04 Antispray Tapes have successfully undergone certificate renewal by DNV and CCS, to ensure continued compliance with safety, structural and operational standards set by classification societies.

Mareflex’s Antispray Tapes, fully compliant with SOLAS Consolidated Edition 2009, Chapter II-2/Regulation 4, item 2.2.5.3, are a vital safety measure designed to protect against the risk of fire caused by high-pressure fuel or oil spray in engine rooms and other critical areas. The use of certified and dependable tapes is essential in safeguarding your operations and the lives of your crew.

Unmatched Strength and Reliability

What truly sets Antispray Tapes apart is their exceptional durability. Tested and proven to withstand pressures of up to 25 and 55 bar, it far surpasses other tapes on the market, which are typically limited to 15 bar. This significant difference makes our tape the strongest and most reliable anti-splashing solution available.

Safety Is Non-Negotiable

As a trusted and reliable manufacturer with years of experience in the maritime industry, we understand the critical role anti-splashing tapes play in maintaining the safety of your crew and vessels. That’s why we strongly advocate for using tapes from recognized and proven manufacturers – because safety should never be compromised.

A-SPE & Mareflex at SMM 2024: Video Highlights of the Event

We would like to thank everyone who visited our A-SPE and Mareflex stand at the SMM exhibition in Hamburg.

On this occasion, we have prepared a short video summarising this event, our stand and products, with the many visitors we had the pleasure of welcoming.

Trade shows are always an intense but rewarding experience, filled with conversations and opportunities to meet face-to-face – sometimes for the first time in months or even years of email communication!

For us, these moments are about more than just business or finding new customers. Above all, they are about people and strengthening relationships.

“In business, it’s all about relationships. People want to do business with those they know, like, and trust.”

MF03 Antispray Tapes – Modified Structure for Easier Application

In our ongoing mission to create the most effective, practical, and user-friendly products for our customers, we are pleased to announce an important improvement to MF03 Antispray Tapes.

Our customers have indicated that a thinner aluminium tape could greatly enhance the installation process, especially when it came to fitting it around the more complex shapes often found in their working environments.

Taking this feedback on board, we have now shifted to a thinner aluminium tape which not only retains the durability of our previous product, but also significantly improves the ease of application. This change has been thoroughly tested and we are confident that it will offer the perfect blend of flexibility and durability.

As a global supplier with years of experience in the marine industry, we know that small changes can make a big difference. That’s why we continue to innovate and adapt our products to meet our customers’ needs.

As always, we welcome further feedback and suggestions, as we strive to deliver the best solutions.

Tips on the correct installation of Anti-splashing Tapes on flanges

wrong signal on pipeline flange with antysplashing tape

The function of Anti-spray Tapes is to control oil spraying and leakages of piping systems, in accordance with IMO SOLAS Consolidated Edition 2009, Chapter II-2 / Regulation 4, item 2.2.5.3.

Apart from the properties of Mareflex anti-splashing tapes (self-extinguishing, ultra-strong material), their correct installation is essential to provide adequate protection.

TIPS

During installation of Antispray Tape it is important to cover the flange completely. Applying just a narrow strip of the tape on the edge of flange (as in the presented picture) is incorrect. Because in the event of a leakage, this method of installation may NOT prevent the formation of a hazardous mist of flammable substances.

Leaks or sprays of pressurized fluids, such as hydraulic fluid, lube oil or fuel oils, onto hot surfaces are the potential sources of ignition.
